DIY CO2 and a diffuser

I use 2 of these in 55g. (one in each back corner) I have a hard time keeping up with the plants. Plants go CRAZY! hard to keep pruned. Produces very fine bubbles that dissapate before reaching top, or get blown around tank as micro bubbles. I now wish that I had ordered more than two.

Hagen Ladder

Well, my ladder has been up and running a few days now - the bubbles are not as small as I would wish them to be by the time they hit the top. <sigh>
Think I'll try the Ebo Jager thing next - at $1.19 whats to lose? Also, I bet it will be good in a fry tank.

Roan, do you still have a reactor hooked up to the diffuser, or just the diffuser itself?

I've had pretty good luck with the ladder. The bulbs are about 90% gone by the time they reach the top. I really haven't run the thing consistantly, so I'm not too sure what type of effect 1 Hagen system has on CO2. The Hagen CO2 container thing is pretty nice though. Looks a lot nicer than big 2 liter bottles. :)

I've tried a few types now and mostly use the Rena Micro Bubbler ceramic stone diffuser. I'm going to try the limewood ones next.

One I'm using in my new tank and I *really* like it is the Ebo Jäger Air Diffuser:

Man, it's on clearance -- $1.19. Gonna buy a few more. You can turn the dial to produce a *really* fine bubble and it's not as noticeable as the white stones.

you inject co2 with that right? how small are the bubbles

Nope, limewood or glass diffusers all the way now. Bubbles are finer and more consistant with limewood (using Coralife) or glass.

Know what I am using now? Cigarette filters. A bag can be bought for cheap, like a $1.50 for 50 filters. I remove the outer paper and cut the thing in half and stuff it in the end of the airline. I rubber banded the airline to the bottom of the filter intake to secure it. Talk about tiny bubbles!
