DIY co2 stopped working ?

I recently changed out my co2 bottle because the batch was getting old. I did what I normally do which is add 2 cups of sugar to hot water with 1/8 tsp of yeast. The yeast was in a little pouch that I taped up from earlier use so it was not air tight.

It's been quite a few hours now and I'm still not getting any co2. Could it be because the yeast was not air tight when I stored it? I bought the pack maybe a month ago so it should be fine. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

where did you store it?

it's supposed to be stored in the fridge once open.

sounds like the yeast went bad/inactive. make up a new batch, with new and unopened yeast.

It can take a bit for it to kick in. You don't neccessarily have to keep it in the fridge. Any cool, dark place will work...i.e a cabinet. That's where I store mine. Other factors can weigh in such as room temp, was the yeast activated prior to pouring it in, is the lid air tight. Just some other things to ponder over there.
