I set everything up but i dont think my yeast mixture is working. Someone tell me what i'm doing wrong.

I have a 2L pop bottle. I put in 2 cups of hot water and dissolved 2 cups of sugar in the water and shook it til fully dissolved. Let it cool til it was just a little warm and not hot at all. At the same time i took 1/4th a tea spoon of fleishchmans (or something) dry activated yeast and little bit of warm water (not hot) mixed it up til it looked smooth and put in a little bit of sugar and stirred it vigourously then let it sit for 15 minutes. stirred it a bit again and dumped it in the bottle. I shook the bottle up and now i'm staring at it and theres no bubbling no nothing. its been 30 minutes.

Beats me.

I did the same thing able a week or 2 ago, I just want to experience how my plants would react to the injection of CO2, but that project did not work for me. The yeast just rose to the top of the bottle and the sugar went back down.

I personally don't like the way DIY CO2 system looks, kinda messy and mess is the last think that I need around my tank.

So in the end I ordered me one of Hagen's CO2 System.

Nope, no leaks whatsoever. I checked

Don't want to burst your bubble but that kit you ordered is basically DIY yeast just they pre packaged it all and gave you a plastic container.

My yeast isn't even going to the top. maybe i have a faulty batch of yeast. Next time maybe i'll buy refrigerated wet yeast. that stuff works faster.

Nope i dont have a leak and even if i did it should still bubble and foam in the bottle but its not doing it. I'm gonna leave it overnight and see what happens. I have it hooked up going through an empty bottle and i also have a check value so it should be alright. Also got the whole setup inside a cardboard box tucked away behind something so if it blows up it wont be so messy lol

This should be posted in the plants forum, not here :)

You're doing a lot of needless steps

1. Take 3 cups of sugar and put it in a 2L pop bottle
2. Add lukewarm water 3/4 up the bottle
3. Shake like mad
4. Add 1 tsp bread machine yeast and 1 tsp baking soda
5. Shake like mad
6. Fill the bottle up with lukewarm water until it starts to curve up to the neck
7. Shake like mad

It can take 24 hours for the CO2 to react

You're not making bread, so don't worry about dissolving everything beforehand

I use fleishman's bread machine yeast. The thing starts to bubble within an hour or two.
That's what I use now and it starts to bubble in 5 mins, full strength foam in 30 mins.

I don't know why it reacts so fast for me

I tried the Fleschman's Quick Rise and it took overnight for it to get going. I think that's what Onikun is using, which explains the delay.
