DIY Compact Fluorescent (CFL) Strip Light Retrofit

If anyone needs a recommendation on fans to use...I personally only use Thermaltake fans. Here is a list of their fans.

I love these right here, great quality and comes with an adjustable control so that you can adjust it to your liking, either for sound or cooling purposes. I have purchased 16 of these for different reasons, no problems with any of them.

I've also purchased other Thermaltake products and I've had no issues...great stuff.

Great thread! I really like how clear you were in the original post. There have been a lot of great question and comments as well.

I'm wondering where I can get a cathode and how long are they? I'm doing a 30" light. I'm also wondering if cathodes can be added to existing strip lights. I have a 36" triple tube that's going on a 30L and when the light comes on it will be hard on the fish. I'm planning on putting a lamp on a timer neat the tank to ease them into the light but I'm thinking Cathrode may help too.

Thanks

Thanks for the comment.

I get my cathodes from Newegg.com. Here is a good list of what they have. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...escription=cold+cathode&name=Case+Accessories

I've purchased these two:

They are 12" long, so you could do the single or the dual setup.

ya konw, I just rip computer fans out of old computers(where else?) they usually work fine

(I'd get cold cathodes from the same place btw...)
