DIY Compact Fluorescent (CFL) Strip Light Retrofit

Decided to make a custom housing for the larger bulb. Here is some pics. Not done yet but i'll post the whole thing when it's completed.

That's cool, can't wait to see the final product. What are you going to do about heat concerns?

Well the inside well be lined with sheet metal. I also have thought about mounting a computer fan either on the side or on top. But i can add the fan after if needed. Kind of want to see how hot it gets first.
 
My dad gave me th O.K. to do this project so pretty soon my tank should have 4 18w bulbs putting me at an even 2wpg. great compared to my current .56wpg lol
 
just finished my light conversion.. awesome...
found those dual lamp packages on clearence at lowes for 1.50 each,,, nice...
ive seen some go with the really metallic paint.. is the white better reflector than that stuff...i went with white..

so now i have four of the daylight cfl 14 watts in one fixture on my 55 gal the left side and a coralife t5 two bulb on the right..
Is that too much light or is that good do you think..
Thought about putting four cfls on right and taking t5 off

And now i have three 14 watt on my 29 gal and a reg 20 inch flores strip light...Is that too much or good to go

I do not and will not do anything with co2 so im trying to find the high light balance
