DIY hood suggestions for odd shaped custom tank

BK: Very nice setup indeed. I like the idea of the triangle side pieces as they will lighten the hood when lifting. Pretty svelt looking too!

Thanks!

...About the hinge placement; do you mean to hinge it between the 4' and 3' tubes? If so, I think that the corners of the hood (at the widest point) would hit the wall when opened.
It's all coming together in my mind. Call it Cranial Adhesion. :idea2:

Yep! That's what I was thinking. It should open at least 90degrees which should give you ample room to get into the tank. It won't be completely against the wall so it may just lean back enough that the wall would hold it for you! Other than that, there are many ways of keeping it open. Good ol' Cranial Adhesion gets it done every time... :D Good luck!

If the hood tilted lifted uplike a car engine hood, you could rig a support like the one that holds up a car hood? Don't mind me, I don't know what I'm talking about lol.

Of course that hood with all the lighs is alot heavier......like I said what do I know!

dude that would be pretty sweet. would be nice for if you had alot of tanks to deal with. with just one tank I think it would be kinda lame.

Lame? Just when I was going to suggest the thermostatically controlled fan forced cooling unit for the light hood.
