I found another place that has the meanwell eln-60-48-d power supplies. Price is a bit better at $28.71 for 1 to 4. I have 5 on order at the moment. One shipped yesterday and the others have a ship date of 5-6, which works for me.

There is a difference in the D vs. P model in that you need a 0 to 10V signal on the D model to get a corresponding output current. The P model needs a digital pulse signal to get a corresponding current out. Without any control on those inputs you will not get any current out.

Interesting. I had called Meanwell and spoke with one of their engineers specifically about that and he made it sound as if that would not work... oh well...

In part III of my blog article I have a section on dimming. Once again I called Meanwell and spoke with their engineer and he indicated that my method was the easiest and most inexpensive way to dim the led's.

1 of the 5 meanwell power supplies I ordered showed up today. The others are set to ship on or about May 6th.

I just ordered my CREE xp-g R5 whites today for my larger aquarium. I now have my power supplies, a used Orbit light fixture to use as a housing. I will order my heat sinks next week. I am planning on building two 48" fixtures with 24 LED's each. I have a wooden fixture I may use for the second unit if I can't find another used Orbit fixture.

those xp series have a decievingly small die huh, if i saw that on like a little toy flashlight or something id think its junk but man are they bright.

Did you see the testing/report that was done on the xp-g r5. This guy really abused the current levels and it's amazing that the LED didn't burn out, it just kept getting brighter.

i actually did not see that, wow thats powerful, i do want to see what it looks like at 1.5a, i have a 1.4a driver at home and an xpg, could be interesting
