DIY Light Fixtures

over a tank that long, you really only need two MH lights. With decent reflectors, you probably couldn't even fit three in that space. Even for high light SPS corals, 2x250 or even 2x400 would be plenty.

Yes, a common 4'/120cm configuration is two MH lights and two 4' T5HO lights. Often, the MH bulbs are 10,000-12,000K for high intensity white light for growth, and the T5HO bulbs are actinic to provide good color. If you're worried about it, you could even go 12,000-14,000K with the MH bulbs as well. Twm MH bulbs side by side in the middle and the tubes on the front and back of the fixture.
