I still think that since you're using a 12v adaptor for power, if you get the adjustable adaptor with 7 different voltage settings (12v being the highest!) they would be dimable . Those that wanted to use only 5 of the 10 LEDs could just select the 6v setting etc.... Try looking in the electronics/phone section of the local hardware store for those of you interested.
