DIY Overflow

how??

Well for starters it's not my design.
But it does work well .The water level in tank is constant relative to the level of elbow on the piece outside the tank by the open ended "T". As long the tank water never goes below the level of the input pipe it will not break siphon in the "s" section and need repriming.

The open part of the "T" allows air in the down tube which stops the tank from completely draining by breaking the siphon at that point.

All you have to do pump water back into the tank from the sump at a gph that iis balanced by the overflow.

Normally you install a ball valve and a one way (back siphon) valve on the pump output. That way you don't pump so fast the over flow can't handle and if the power goes off the tank does not drain through back through the pump and the sump and the floor.

Or you just have the return line from the sump above the water line, or have some holes in the return line right above the main tank water level. To break the siphon and prevent back flow.
