Hello everyone,
I'm attempting to build a DIY CO2 reactor with PVC piping, and I've come across a few problems. My first problem, is that I've just noticed that my airline connector is made out of plastic...so is this a major issue, or am I alright since the tube will surround the airline connect?

Also, does the PVC solvent glue cure after a while? There is a poison sign on the front of the bottle, yet I know a lot of people have used PVC glue for sumps and multi tank arrangement.

Thanks for any answers, help or advice!

not sure if this helps, but I used to do irrigation for a while and we used pvc for that and the glue never seemed to harm anything. You just needed to give it time to dry, like maybe a day. Keep in mind though a tank is going to be waaay more touchy than a lawn ;)

PVC glue is fine after a day or two. Should say on the label. Wait 12 hours, 24 hours, some such thing.

I really don't understand your question about your airline connector. They usually are plastic. Use a bit of silicone if your worried about a leak or to attach to PVC.

I think the plastic connector question was in regards to the CO2 degrading it over time. I recently made a couple reactores myself and used plastic on one. I don't want to give you a time frame and be wrong but I imagine it'll last a year w/o cracking/deteriorating. Pick up a different one when you get a chance and next time you clean/pull it apart, install the new one.
