DIY Slate wall

I think it looks awesome. I keep getting closer to doing something in this realm of the DIY world and your piece has put me one step closer.

I may have missed it but I do have a question... why the styrofoam? I'm guessing to protect the tank bottom or to use less slate...

yeah, or rotate it 180 and form an S... or raise it up higher than the other... a million things you can do.

the 2nd wall is already a bit lower than the other. I accidentally cut the styrofoam 1/4" smaller and the 2nd tile was somewhat bad quality.. it was 2 crummy, every time i tried to shape it to size it would just crumble every which way. the rotating 180 wouldnt be possible since when gluing i wasnt really focusing on how the back looks.. just the look of the presentable front side.

bevicking suggested styrofoam to prevent any damage being done to the bottom glass.. but im sure the other is to add that extra height to it, atleast thats the deal in my case.

this is making me want a stone wall in my nano I'm setting up

I was thinking of making a mini one inch wide. This one is 3" wide x 14" long

I think 2 is too much. Luckily I have room for one of them in my tank. ;)
Just kidding. So this is what you've been up to? Haven't seen you on lately.
lol with your phallus wood there isnt any room :P
And ive been here, you went missing for the past month.

looks good. cant beat DIY

lmao! I have a corner in my brackish tank just begging for something. Think those tiles would be ok in there?

Yup should be fine. I washed mine, boiled it for 10 min then washed again.. let fully dry and then they are ready to work with. Can make a mini bow for a corner.
