diy stand.... think this would hold up?

So I was searching for plans to make my own stand for the new 29 gallon tank... our biggest ever... (go ahead, laugh!)

and.... WOW! If this looks doable for ~300lb of weight... I think my 18yo tiny weakling girly self might be able to figure it out! (at least the frame... and cry to my dad for help with the rest!)

Many thanks to the website owner for posting this page! (He posted a link to AC so hopefully he can step up and take credit!) The closest I could find to a name was S. Swartz on his photography.

NO> Do not use screws at this point if you've already used pegs for joinery. You'll only end up potentially weakening the joint which is plenty strong with the dowels - provided it was glued and clamped properly to begin with. The only way I would put a screw in any of those joints is with a proper pilot hole drilled. This would avoid splitting either the 2x4 or the dowel... A pilot hole would also avoid compromising the integrity of the glue bond.

If you build it the same way, let me recommend at minimum, you add a piece of luan plywood to the back. You only need 3/16 or 1/4" to provide enough strength against any sheer force (side to side movement). Even better, Peg board is thick enough, and you can use peg board hardware to store supplies and route cables, etc. You can still have an opening in the back to route cables and such through.
