I have just orderd my new tank 84x24x26 and I am planning to make a DIY strrofoam background as the cost of getting one in the UK is frightning.
I have found the board at a good price,I think my artistic skills are up to it.I am intending to do an amazon type with roots and maybe a trunk that sticks out slightly.
But I have a couple of questions firstly is it nessesary to cover with cement or is that just to give a rock type finish.Would it be possible to cover with epoxy and then paint and cover finally with epoxy to seal the paint.I am intending to use acrylic paints to do the painting would they be OK.I see quite a few people who make the background on ply and then add the foam I am assuming the ply would need sealing as well with epoxy.
Thanks in advance once I get under way I will post a few picture and keep the thread updated as to my sucess.
Cheers Joe H
