Yes, for your own safety more than anything, besides from that, it does not overly matter as the silicon with cover and seal the glass joints..

If going down the EDPM as JoJo suggested, then i would ensure that they are well sanded and smooth so as to not cit/split the rubber strips...

That is the way im going to go as i dont think its worth spending $100+ for a new sump thats only 10 gallons. I would GREATLY appreciate any info on how to do it, also detail directions would be a good help, thanks! I dont remember if i asked this before, but what kind of light should i buy to keep macro algae alive, should there be any critters inside with the macro algae to benefit it? Thanks alot
 
Niko just wanted to say thank you also you've been a huge help! What should i use to sand it? Grain size and all that info, is there a certain kind for sanding?
 
i would use normal sugar grain size reef sand....Some people do like to have a mixture of different grades in the refugium..but, i believe that is a personal preference thing...Hope all goes well with it...

Ohh i meant the sanding of the glass that you recommend sense im going down jojos route instead of getting glass baffles and using the striping, do i need to sand it down before i put the strips on?

sorry mate...yeah, you can buy wet and dray sand paper, medium coarse, from your local hardware store which is good for sanding the edges of glass and will give you a nice smooth finish...

Just finished, and want to say that was by FAR the easiest thing i've ever done in my life, just take your time and dont rush anything. Love the way it looks and cannot wait until my new acrylic tank gets here so i can hook everything up. Thanks JoJo and Niko for all the help, pictures are coming.:headbang2:
