DIY Water changing hook

Sometimes I even walk briskly with scissors.

I learned soon after I got back into it to never leave the room when I'm siphoning out or refilling one of my tanks. I pull up a chair and stay awhile. I'll stop the process if I have to step out because things happen quick with a 75g and 55g. A big'ol tank that takes an hour or more, I'd for sure make some J-hooks.

Give it a shot. A great piece of mind on a drain if you do have to leave for some reason. And if you feel creative, you can even make a spring loaded ball section that shuts the fill off on a refill, provided it is at low pressure.

How does this work with a syphon? You just suck the air out of the hose? The syphon I have has 1/4" tubing on it. This looks like 3/4 pipe

I believe the above setups are using a python type water changer that uses a faucet to start the siphon.

I have my tank in the basement. I have a bathroom there I may get 50 feet of clear tubing to run the siphon to the toilet. Better than carrying buckets of water. Then I can hook it up to the sink for refilling.
