I've never seen my amano shrimp harm any fish, even the smaller ones. However, they grow bigger and bigger. Yesterday night, I noticed that one of the big females won the usual wrestle match over a shrimp pellet against the bristlenose. Should I be worried?

amanos are pretty harmless and peaceful shrimp and can't do any damage with what they have . what do you mean by a "wrestling match"? i've seen my amanos drag a whole wafer under a piece of driftwood they hang out at but the otos still find it. Bristlenoses will max out at 4-5 inches whereas an amano, only at 2 inches and less.

. The bristlenose isn't that big yet. I guess it's a female, and she's just somewhat above 2 inches long, which is hardly longer than the amano shrimp. The bristlenose is quite a bully, and she does her usual headbang routine, whereas the amano shrimp keeps the shrimp pellet under her belly, while using the rostrum to wrestle the bristlenose down and nail it to the ground.
In former times, the amano always fled. Perhaps, now that she has eggs, she gets defensive.
Yamato shrimps are trip. I love them. I have them with puffers at the moment and they all do their own thing. They sometimes steal bloodworms but the puffer will just suck it out from under him. They are great pets. Ive seen that wafer dragging and wrestling with other fish in my friend's tank as well. Love it.
I've had Amano shrimp for about a year and a half now and I have never seen them act in anyway but gentle and amusing. They will even hitch a ride across the aquarium on my bettas back (not that he is crazy about it) and the tug of war matches over a pellet are a hoot.

Yes, I like my amano shrimp very much. They are not shy at all, unlike the Cherry Red Shrimp, where I see maybe one once every three weeks. They are also very quick with finding the food.
As an exception, the females hide at the moment. Let's see whether they will come back when they got rid of their eggs.
