Do apple snails eat plants?

I actually use Hikari algae wafers and then for the extra calcium I feed mine unflavored tums, they love them and a vet friend of mine says that it will do them absolutely no harm. Add some crushed coral to the tanks and the pond that should help stabilize the water parameters. Also I don't know if it is the best idea to put snails that you buy into a pond with koi. I kept some of my larger snails, half the size of a baseball in a large tank with a shubunkin and the koi would just suck them right out of the shell. Talk about heated.

all my snails get kale, parsley, or collard greens as part of their regular diet. brigs need these to be blanched or microwaved for a few seconds first.
fresh veggies like these are best as a staple food. algae wafers are best, like jinx said, as filler.
calcium supplements include vacation blocks, tums, liquid calcium (sold as a saltwater supplement, like Kent's Liquid Calcium) or WonderShell, which you can find at most pet stores. if you have hard water with a naturally high pH, less calcium is necessary, but for the average aquarist, calcium supplements are a must.

I never would have thought of Tums! Thanks for all the advice.
