do clowns need snails to be happy?

Careful of the cheek spines; they're razor sharp. They will also click and pop loud enough to be heard outside the tank.

By the way, nice pictures, Duckie. I haven't really given my clown loaches any snails mainly because, like you, I'm afraid I might get them sick.. snails can harbor camallanus worms and other crud..so yeah.. these camallanus guys are tough, viral, nasty little wigglers..

Thank you, I will check that out sometime. My clown loaches are not with me any more (rehomed) since my 180 gal got downsized to a 55 gal. Still have the 180, but it is now converted into salt.

That's an option too...lots of cute loaches can live long term in a 55g, just not clowns & a few others. Sids, striata etc.

I still got a chain loach and 4 skunk loaches in the 55.
