I seem to remember a harlequin rasbora getting nippy with my neon tetras, is this normal? I want to pick some up from the pet store but a lot of times it seems like these kids work'n at pet stores aren't really trained properly so I wanted to ask some people who have a bit more experience. Think they'll be ok together?

Harlequin rasboras are peaceful and I've never heard of an account where they are nippy or aggressive towards other fish. Are you sure you're thinking of the right fish? Harlequin rasboras look like this:

yea, those, I must be mistaken. But i'm also real careful of how my fish behave toward one another, if they seem to stress out other fish at all I pull them out. Maybe it's the zebra danios I'm thinking of?

I have heard that zebra danios can get nippy with other fish. That is why I stayed away from them.

Well, was he the only harlequin you had in that tank? If so, he could have been stressed from not having a shoal and acted out on your other fish because of that. Or if you did have others with him, he may have been spawning with a female and thought that your neons were too close. Normally harlequins are great fish behaviorally speaking. They should be fine with any other fish you put in with them, just make sure you have at least 5 or 6 together.

I've never heard of them being nippy at all.
