Do honey gouramis eat plants?

Your gourami was probably picking at the plant to make his bubble nest. My male has finally calmed down his bubblenest building fever, but he would pick at my moss, Rotala rotundifolia, dying leaves of Wisteria, and even freshly planted baby Crypts in an attempt to make his nest bigger...

How long did it take him to calm down. Mine have been at it for about 2 months. I really need to fine hime a female. None of the LFS have them. I even got them to order me so females but when they can in they were males.:22_yikes:

Doubt a LFS will have a female. You're gonna have to find a breeder, either through aquabid, ebay, etc.

I found one of my honey gouramis eating some densa I have floating. I moved the both of the gouramis out of the tank for safe keeping. Later that day I was trimming plants and saw the densa was not do well in that location. I feel they may have been picking at the dead plant matter not the healthy parts. So, do honey gouramis eat healthy plants or not?

It took my male about three weeks to calm down. I have the same problem with ordering "females" and getting males. There are just some things in this hobby(like only being able to find one sex of a certain specie of fish) that never cease to baffle me....

My honey gouramis i have not yet seen do more than hide in my plants. My opaline gouramis were always eating my plants tho. The best way i found to get them off my plants was to drop a couple of leaves of lettuce in and they ate that instead.

Ahhhh, yes. Anacharis. No tank is really complete without some. It may need bright light, but it grows just fine in my 70 liter low-light tank. In fact, I've been able to put some of the cuttings into my son's 40 liter guppy tank. It's a good plant for guppies because the fry can hide in the leaves. Leave it free floating in a gourami tank, and they have a natural anchor for their bubble nests. It's a very versatile plant. I keep it in my planted tank because I have some honey dwarf gouramis who LOVE to eat fine leaved plants and if they have this plant, they leave my others alone. It's very inexpensive, which is always nice.
