Ok when I first set up my tank I bought a pleco, didn't know anything about them at the time and a few SAE's or what was suppose to be SAE anyway, now that I've learned more about fish and how big the Common get's and that most SAE in LFS are not SAE I thought I'd post pic's and find out what I have

SAE?

I couldn't get a pic of the other, but it looks the same except it has a horizontal line going down the side of it's body.

Pleco?

Thanks guys/gals!!

you have 2 pleco's one unknown and one common

Do you mean the SAE ones are plecos? Or do you mean the plecos I have are different ones? I have a couple more pics if needed.

BTW: WOW that was FAST, I posted went and looked at another thread and POW I had been answered (your so awsome :D )!!!!!!

it doesn't look like either an SAE or a CAE or a flying fox. all three of those have horizontal black and tan or gold stripes down the length of their body. that one has spots.

I though only the SAE had the horizontal line, and going on that that is how they are labeled in the LFS I frequent and the ones pictured above are labeled as CAE. I thought you only bought one pleco, but any ways to me both look like a common to me but I'm not a pleco guy.

now that i google some pics, it does look like a CAE

I finally got a pic of the one that I couldn't get a pic of before but from the pic that rockabilly added I know it is a CAE! D*mb it!! Aren't those the ones that get really aggressive and stop eating algae once they are older?

I know the common can get that big (now), that is why I wanted to find out what they were too the biggest tank I am going to have for a while is a 75 (well until around Jan), then I plan on getting a 125 but I have 2 of these guy's one looks slightly different than the other (the edges of the fins on one is more rust than the other one) I will have to find homes for them I think...none of the lfs around here will take fish from you. CRAP!! :(

Wow as many times as I have been to this site and I never noticed the "catfish/bottom feeders" thread!!! Sorry I will move my question on to that section (if a mod or someone could just move this over there I'd apprechiete that!) ;)

Thanks,
Gin
