Do I have enough light?

CFs are not good. I tossed that light fixture you linked to into the garbage a few months ago when I moved because I was tired of it taking room in my closet.

You can do mushrooms, xenia, and possibly even a bubble coral (they are a low light coral), but I wouldn't try a Frogspawn or any SPS coral with that light, and no way would I add any more CF lights to that one to bump it up. You can get a T5HO fixture for 1/2 the cost of your CF fixture in 2 bulb form and it will give you almost 3x the light output.

The 24" and 30" are exactly the same, you would be paying $15 extra just for the housing to be a little longer, but the 24" had metal legs that pull out to fit on a 30" tank anyway. The bulbs are 22" on both of them.

So a 2-bulb T5HO setup and I'm good? Should I have an Actinic dawn/dusk pre/post daylight (like I do now) or doesn't it matter?

Ideally I would recommend a 4 bulb T5HO fixture for a 29G (I have 6 bulbs on mine), but with 2 bulbs you can still do quite a few beginner corals, a lot more than you could do with your CF light. If you put in 2 "white" bulbs you can do more than with 1 blue and 1 white in regards to corals, but the looks of the tank with only 10k bulbs usually isn't the most appealing to many people. I would recommend trying to get a mix of bulbs like maybe a 10k and maybe a 50/50 or something as the second, just to give to a little more blue. The more bulbs you have the more options you have with trying out different bulbs. I think I have 6 different types of bulbs in my setup right now, mostly blues or some mix, only 1 10k bulb out of 6.

Oh ya, dusk/dawn doesn't really matter much in regards to the corals.. it is more for your pleasure than your tanks health IMO.

Depends what you call affordable. ;)

I bought THIS FIXTURE a couple years ago, but only paid $230 from the same place.. some reason today it is $70 more than I paid for it, odd, but it is a good fixture. Love the fact it has 2 built in timers, moonlights, and only uses 1 power cord for it all. So I have that fixture I linked, and I also have that other 2 bulb fixture I linked above to give me 6 bulbs.

Best bet to get one cheap is to look at your local area craigslist, look for a local reef club, or check out Reefcentral's forums, scroll to the very bottom and find "Local Clubs" and look to see if there is one in your area. You can get extremely good deals buying used.

I had the same set up but for a 4ft 55 gal. (4x65watts). I did great with softies. Mushrooms, polyps, tree corals, etc. I kept some hard corals(green plate, trumpet) but they never really grew. Never had luck with bubbles . Even though i fed it. ..... I was also able to grow coraline on my rocks n walls too.
