So my Dad was going to the Home Depot near us and I asked him to pic up some GE Silicone 1.

So my Dad came home with GE Silicone 1 Kitchen/Bath/plumbing.

The tube says 100% silicone but the tube also says not for use below the water line or aquariums.

So I am a little confused. On one hand I have the tube that says not for use in aquariums and on the other hand I have so many people on Aquaria Central saying it is safe.

So my question is did my Dad get the right silicone?

If you do some googling and such, you'll see that GE changed the types of silicones. From what I was able to find, GE Silicone I K/B is NOT safe for aquariums, but GE Silicone I W/D is what you want.

Someone with recent experience using GE silicone might want to chime in, it's been a few years since I've resealed a tank.

The tubes I have are window/doors,attic and basement. I don't have any of the other tubes around to check the labels. You want to make sure it does not contain any mold or mildew inhibitors. Oh, and the tube will say not to use in an aquarium....we just ignore that part.

Yep..GE...Silicone I...W/D/A/B...window/door/attic/basement. The K/B stuff has midew reisitant chems in it..best not to use.
