I put in the first part of my clean up crew yesterday plus some live rock with mushroom coral on it, do I need to feed any of them? I'm a bit concerned because my cleaner shrimp isn't doing much, all he's doing is hanging upside down on the same rock he's been on all day. Is this usual behaviour for a shrimp?

YOU don`t because normally you have fish & they eat the left overs etc
But as you have a shrimp in there i`d throw a pinch of flake marine food in for it you will learn to know how much to put in because you will see what he dose not eat or dose eat etc....

how much rock is in the tank as the hermits will find things to pick at etc

overall until you get fish i`d add a little food each day for your shrimp & what little he leaves the crabs will have

Ive also just tested my phosphate level and it appears to be around2.5! How can I get this down?:help:

Ok thanks, LFS did warn me the water round here had a phosphate level. Will definately buy RO water from them for next water change - when should I do one? Also said to wait at least 2 weeks before adding fish now, is that about right? Just tested levels and all still 0 so far (apart from phosphate obviously!)

Wow!! I just a put a few marine flakes in and Jock, (the shrimp), went beserk - he was shooting all over the place grabbing at flakes and shoving them in! That was quite funny - what are those little leggy things behind their actual:dance2: legs but much shorter? - they were going ten to the dozen to get himself round the tank and grab the food quick!

Those would be swimmerets (although they may be something different in SW shrimp, I only have FW shrimp atm).

They are how the shrimp swims, when they arent using their legs

I,ve added Phosban but it doesn't say how long it lasts - will it do any harm if left in for too long? When should I be doing my first water change? tank has een up and running now for 3 weeks and has had clean up crew and small amount of live rock added tuesday and today.
