DO I need to use a weir?

I am building a refugium, and trying to figure out my plumbing, I can not drill my tank So I am jsut going to use tubes... For a suction tube Can I just use pvc, Or do I need a weir/over flow device or is there somthing ismple I can build. Thanks

Is your fuge going above, below, or level to your tank?

Then you need something wich functions like or is an overflow box/weir.
