Do Isopods eat coco fiber?

I put a couple isopods in my viv to clean things up and their population exploded. I guess the frogs are not picking them off. With the population explosion came a big loss in dirt. All the coco fiber behind a standing log was gone and in its place were dozens of isopods. If they are in fact eating the coco fiber I guess there isn't enough food in there for them. What can I feed them to keep them from eating the coco fiber?

Isopods or better known as pill bugs and sow bugs eat dead and decaying matter. I tend to find them anywhere there are dead dying or diseased plants in my yard. Probably why there are so few in my section of garden since all my plants are growing very nicely right now. But yea coco fiber is just another food source to them. I would try removing some from the enclosure and try providing some vegetation for the ones you leave behind. Thats what I would do at least. I would imagine they would still go for your coco fiber though.

add leaf litter, they will eat it instead of the coco fiber. Coco fiber technically isn't dirt, it's just ground up coconut shell.
