Can you build your own fish tank? I'm looking at 100 to 120 gallon size. Anyone with any experience with this? Or possibly an L shaped tank...could be 4 to 5 foot per side. Is thie cost effective, and can it be done and have it look decent?

Yes, its very common. There are lots of threads on this actually:).

Basically, it is not usually cost effective until past 200-300 gallons. Even then, you better have some skills to trust yourself with some silicone and that much water! Did I mention it's a hassle?

Yes, it can be done, but unless you want to spend more money (or are trying to get a custom shaped tank) it would be easier/cheaper to buy it.

Just remember never build any tank bigger than your house's largest doorway unless you plan to make it permanently part of the house. ;)

Thanks guys..gosh..I'm an idiot...I thought I posted this in freshwater DIY...was looking through the posts...thinking...what did I do??? :sim:
I did a thread search briefly and didn't find what I was looking for. I know people build them...just not sure if possible to do it well and have look good. My husband (who already thinks I'm a nut) looked at me like I had a screw loose when I suggested it this afternoon so it's probably a no go.
