do plants produce oxygen?

Plants produce oxygen as a by-product during photosynthesis. During a brownout, the lights would be out, so the plants wouldn't be actively photosynthesizing. The plants would behave the same way they do at night; they would respire, taking up oxygen and releasing CO2 just as fish (and people) do.

you must of done photosynthesis, co2 + h2o (now everyone join in) [light energy] ----> glucose + oxygen and aerobic respiration is glucose + o2 ---> co2 + h2o + energy for the fishies and plants

You forgot to balance the equation :)

6CO2 + 12H2O [light energy] ----> C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H2O (Photosynthesis)

Run it backwards and you get aerobic respiration (well, obviously you got the Krebs cycle as well, but that's another story :))
