Do shrimp add to the bioload or reduce it?

I got Armano shrimp in with my Minnows and Khuli's and I don't feed them anything specific as I generally overfeed all my fish anyway :S

I've been thinking about setting up a shrimp farm (OK a tank for them to breed in) for ages and as I'm setting up a tank for Dwarf Puffers would anyone recommend a specific type of shrimp?
