do snails break down ammonia the little snails that come on plants

so they are cleaning the algea mostly and uneaten food right

They eat algae uneaten food and some eat plants. They also can be good for stiring up the substrate depending on what kind of snails you have. They arn't nessacary for a tank but can be kind of fun to watch and do have there benefits as well as draw backs. Some kinds of snails will breed like crazy in your tank and you may have a hard time keeping there numbers in check.
