Along the same lines as the thread about the Emperor 280 producing small bubbles everywhere....

I have 3 power heads running in my tank. Hubby likes the powerheads with the aeration tubes attached and producing fine bubbles everywhere. I don't like the bubbles... I think some how they annoy the fish or something. Right now, I have the bubbles turned all the way down as low as they'll go, and there aren't many floating around, but i'd prefer none at all...

Can anyone tell me, are the bubbles beneficial to the fish? Do they make the water that much more aerated? Do they bother the fish? If they're good for the fish, that's fine, I'll leave them on... but otherwise, someone lie to me so I can tell hubby that it's not good for them and we need to take the air tubes out!!

:-) Thanks!

Do you have any other bubbler/aerator ? If not then it wouldn't hurt.

But to take your side of things, ifyou have one of the power heads pointed towards the surface, disturbing the surface, promoting better gas/O2 exchange there, then you don't need the bubbles. How's that? ;)

Wellll..............

This is what I have on the tank. It's a 125g tank.

I have an UGF with 6 lift tubes, 3 tubes are run by power heads that I pointed down into the middle of the tank (the gouramis didn't like the current when they were flowing straight across the top of the tank) the other 3 tubes have airstones and an air pump running them. I also have a Second Nature WDF 4000 and a Top Fin 60 running on either end of the tank. The Top Fin produces a good amount of surface agitation as do the 3 bubble lift tubes.

Do you think that's enough??
