The fish have been aclimated by the LFS for a while to the local water conditions, and I've verified that they do not do anything to the water out of the tap.
If the fish are fine from the LFS, no sense adjusting the pH???
The water out of the tap is already 7.6, so it's close to the 8.0 - 8.2 that's recommended for these fish.
The fish seem to be doing fine with no adjustment to the pH for several months now.

This makes sense, there is a local pet smart that keeps figqure 8 puffers. they siad they dont use ANY salt or anything with them so you can place them in fresh water not Brack becasue they are use to that.

I have well water.

I do keep aquarium salt, Prime and Nova-Aqua on hand.

Thanks for the replies

I add nothing, just age in a barrel. I pull water out of the hot water heater in the basement, and circulate/ aireate it for at least a day, it cools quickly enough, and I have a heater in the barrel to maintain tank temp. I add ferts for the plants, and a lot of calcium/ calcium carbonate due to the fact that our tap water is soft, and the plants grow better with harder water. I keep prime around for emergencies, but seldom use it for anything more than rinsing off bleach dips when I dip my plants for algea.
