I prefer not to have to use all four of my limbs to drive. I might as well lope along the ground on all fours. :p:

But I've got plent of experience with manuals.

I defintely will never buy a vehicle that is automatic.
Manual is the way to go.

I used to drive a manual untill i got t-boned last week
Then the transmission died, so i did a manual transmission conversion and drove it as a 5-speed up until last week when the car suffered an engine fire.

Jeepers ! All sorts of exciting things happen in our lives that we don't usually hear about here..lol....!!

at the time of purchase neither I or my wife had driven a car in a year or two and with the snow on the ground didnt want to try to learn/relearn both.

Wow, I can't imagine going more than a few days not having to drive !! We live in a rural area here so it's a hop in the car to get anywhere around here !

I learned on a standard...It was a requirement with my dad...lol...I"m glad I did. Drove a 5 speed Toyota pickup for awhile...till the hubby had the second accident with it that put it out of commission...he was fine.... I still miss that little truck !

Now I drive an automatic....99 Mercury Grand Marqui ....nice car..great handling..but the gas milage could be better...especially now !

Oh yeah - I forgot to add... the manual transmission cars I have had all got better gas milage, just because they all happened to be smaller, light weight, sporty little cars. But besides that, I definately wouldn't buy manual - I agree, I'm not going street racing, and so I prefer automatic.

Automatic for me. I still don't know how to drive a standard:o I've just never had to learn.

'Course, my car is getting old and doesn't really shift itself well. You kind of having to help it along with the gas and whatnot. It's almost like being in between:p

I have tried to drive manual....it sucks. I WILL have an automatic. Absolutely no need for me to drive a manual. Nope. Never. No Way..No How..
I'm so adamate about it my husband gave up driving manuals becasue of it. Whenever I had to drive his car for a day it was a huge big hairy f*****g ordeal..he had to take me out to a large empty parking lot and I had to practice, which sucked. Then I had to get through a day or so of driving it, which sucked. Nope...never again. Absolutely no need. :rant2:
I don't wanna and you can't make me.... :D
If there was only 1 car left on earth and it was a manual I would ride a bike...

Manual all the way.

Better control of the car, better gas mileage, keeps you more aware or your surroundings, cheaper and its much more fun to drive (except maybe in a traffic jam after a long day of work when you're tired and hungry).

Personally, i dislike automatic drive... makes me feel stupid when i drive (not saying people who drive auto are stupid, it just makes me feel stupid i don't know why)

I drive manual, (its more than a thousand dollars cheaper than auto) Suzuki 4x4 grand vitara. Now, when I drive automatic I feel like I don't know what to do with my right hand. Star smoking? Get a cell phone? Naaaaaah!
I prefer manual.

That's a good dad !!! While Personal preference is just that, I required my children to be able to drive both before they were allowed to use my vehicle's. I always told them the first car they buy might be a manual, so they needed to know both. Furthermore, they may need the knowledge to get a drunk friend home some day. As it turned out my Daughter's first $300.00 car was in fact a manual transmission.

I tend to prefer a manual, and up until I got my new truck this last Saturday I have always owned one or two manual transmission vehichle's. My knees like the automatic much better, especially since no one wants to build a car or truck with leg room anymore. If I owned a Muscle car, it would definately be a standard. But then I'll never own a muscle car because They are too small for me to drive.
