I do have to admit that although I prefer manual, I don't like driving it in heavy traffic...especially on hills with traffic.

the car i want is automatic and manual... does that count?

Are you talking about the Shiftmatic, or whatever it's called? What car?

the Tiptronic transmission found on most VWs and Audis. Its available as a 6 speed on the Passat

interesting....post the same thing in uk only and you woudl get a 95% response for automatic andprobably replies along the lines of "why are you posting this redundant question?"

I'm probably like most drivers in the uk who would say things like

- your not really driving the car when its automatic
- i dont feel in control when its auto
- autos are for lazy drivers and old men

etc etc.....maybe thats why we breed so many racing drivers?

Auto all the way.

I don't think I will ever own a manual, I would not have the nerves for it in traffic. I guess you get used to it.

not quite.. its more like where you can throw your shifter to the side and click it forward and back to shift up and down... my wife's car has it. Useless, IMO, but hey, its a selling point.

My grandma has that on her pt cruiser. Its called an autostick.
