we have two male bettas Clyde and Ted..
a female betta Pretty Girl....
a wee little wild guppy my daughter named Apple dumplings..
2 blood parrots Bubbles and Spike...
a Flame Gourami Gill...
an albino bushy nosed pleco named Shaggy
we are growing out a friends young Uaru and named it Gremlim. I LOVE that fish! He is so sweet and eats from my hands. I wish I could keep him but the largest tank I have is 75 gallon so when he is a bit bigger he goes home to a larger tank. My friend bought him, but I so wish I could "steal" him from him. LOL (he was too little to go in with larger fish in my friends tanks so came here to gain some size)
plus a dozen or so tetra's and rasbora's and 3 boesmani rainbows with no names

NOTE: these fish are not all in the same tank! I have two 5 gallon tanks, a 2 gallon tank, a 75 (the parrots and uaru) and a 40 gallon.

I've only really named my betta-- he's affectionately known as the Grand Funk Master. Otherwise, my fish just get really uncreative names, like "Lord and Lady Calico Platy", or "Messrs. Panda Cory" (though I'm not sure about the sex of the catfish).

I name the ones I can tell apart. My three rasboras (new tank) are different enough, that I can tell them apart and so they're named (Ras (male, redder than the other two), Bo (female) and Ra (female, I think) - quit laughing at me!:D). My new betta is finally named after a few days (Dart Feeder (accurate and corny, we call him Dart)). I'm thinking about naming the littlest of my neons as I can tell him apart from the others, but no name for him yet...

:D

Rats! I thought I had that all tucked away.....

Like Freddy, I only name a few of them that stand out. Stripe was the gold barb that had bouyancy problems since we got him. His spots down the side were all blended together in one continuous stripe. He actually lasted several months, until a few weeks ago when he wouldn't eat, and was very weak and had to be euthanized. I was surprised he lasted that long. I had forgotten about his problem. Nemo is the Harlequin Rasbora with the crook in his caudal fin when I got him since Nemo from the movie had a gimp fin. (I know - Nemo is a really original fish name these days.) Rocky was the little White Cloud in the school when there were only White Clouds - he would hide at the bottom away from the school. I thought he might not make it, but now all the fish are healthy and swim together, and I can no longer pick out Rocky.

Most of mi fish are named. They have spanish names and I'll try to translate them:

20 gall tank
Goldfish: Don gordo (Mr. Chubby)
Butterfly Koi: Flaco (Skinny) -named when very badly sick, but now he is ok-
Albino cory: Don Gato (Top Cat :D )

235 gl tank
Reedfish: La culebrota (The big snake)
Clown Knifefish: Payaso (clown)
Angels: unnamed

I had this little puffer named Bombita (little bomb) but he fell and died :hang:
Rays: Patacon and Arepa. Both are named after food with similar shapes

These are patacon:

I think in any tank the only fish who get names are those who stand out... community fish like White Clouds and Neons just aren't personable enough (and they don't live as long so maybe there's a degree of self-preservation in not naming them and leaving them anonymous).

8" iridescent shark: Excalibur
3" female green barb: The B***h
8.5" pl*co: Donnie Darko (NEEDS NEW HOME - FREE!)
3" Butterfly Loach: Flip
3.5" Crayfish: Popeye
Thai Crab: Wimpy

White Clouds: No Names
Ghost Shrimp (feeders): No Names
Snails: Those Filthy Little B******s!

i name some of my fish. like my giant blue koi (he's about 10" but he's the biggest in the pond) is a huge pig and we ended up calling him "big blue"
