Usually yes. When I got the killifish. I did not.

It's much different to expose two individual fish to each other then a tank full of fish. Now that I got a group of kuhli loaches, they are being quarantined from my betta.

As for my other tanks at my parents...Not an issue since I haven't gotten any new fish there for like 15 years.
Quarantine is usally a good idea.

always QT!

Quarantine is always the better option and if at all possible you should quarantine all of the new arrivals. It is just not worth bringing in any unknown parasites and disease to your already healthy fish and risking losing them.

I try to QT for at least three weeks, usually more. It's just a little 10 gallon set-up. I don't bring home fish often, mostly because of the poor quality of the shops in my area, but when I do, I certainly don't want them swimming around in with my stock right off the bat. It also doubles as a sick tank as well.

my QT (such as it is) is only one gallon - not much good for anything, but short term observation - got a 5 for a qt, and couldn't stand seeing it empty, so it is my ADF tank... :/
