Do you recomend using Reverse Osmosis water?

I just ordered this one on ebay, when I get it, I'll let you know if it any good.
Their web site states several things that concern me! First off they say that the 100 GPD Film-Tec membrane has a rejection rate of 95% ~ 98% when Dow's Own Web Site calls it a “High flow 100 gallon per day drinking water element”. Not a RO element! And it only has a rejection rate of 90%! On the other hand the 75GPD & under membranes are called a Home drinking water “RO elements” & have a rejection rate of 98%.

Second they claim the DI filter is able to achieve highest purity of 0 ppm (Zero mineral, Zero Silica) and near 18 meg.ohm resistivity. So why would they need the 6th carbon stage after the DI? The DI filter is designed to be a final polishing filter! Not a pre-filter for a carbon filter!

I'll keep you posted, and give you my opinion on it...
If you have a TDS meter let us know the readings after the RO membrane (before the DI) Also check your PO4 before & after the membrane, you may be surprised!

I originally got the standard 100 GPD Typhoon from “Air Water Ice” that came with the Tw30-1812-100 membrane. I used the RO/DI unit for about six months & still had a bad hair algae problem. I just figured that it had to be from something else? After doing a lot of testing & ruling things out I ended up back at the RO/DI water! That’s when I figured out that something was wrong?

The TDS of my city water is only 125 ppm. Which is pretty good compared to others that I have heard about! I tested my city water & it had 3.5 mg/l Phosphates & the Silicate was off the scale. After the RO Membrane (before the DI) I still got a reading of over 2 mg/l PO4 & a TDS of 12! This made me start to do some checking around & that’s what lead me to find out that the 100 GPD Dow FilmTec Membrane only has a 90% rejection rate versus a true RO membrane that has a rejection rate of 98% to 99%

Now that I have the high rejection rate 75GPD membrane I’m getting a TDS reading of 2~3 & PO4 reads 0.5! Also my DI filters now last about 400 gal’s when they use to only last around 150 gal’s. And best of all no algae!!!

The Film Tec 100GPD membrane is the same membrane that a lot of E-Bay RO vendors are using! I believe that many of these vendors will supply the 100GPD Membrane instead of the higher rejection rate 75GPD membrane because they’re hoping for the added sales of the replacement DI filters!

It is a unit maybe eighteen inches (or so) long, a bit less in height, and about six inches wide.
I do not keep mine hooked up permanently- only once a week or so when I am making water- I try to keep 40 gallons or so on hand. This water storage obviously takes up more room than the unit itself, but you can always store less, or only make as much as you need.
Lots of options...
So you can hook up only when you wish to make water? That's what I wasn't sure of but that's what I'd prefer.
