do you think i'm overstocked?

I think it's both people involveds fault, All my LFS and chain pet stores around me have the signs they all say "common pleco" and all say 20+ inches for adult size. Yes they should carry the smaller plecos, but how many people when offered a "dwarf" sized pleco would say "well, the bigger one will eat more algea". If you own a pet any kind you should take the time to read on the species or breed of whatever kind of animal you are taking care of. The problem occurs when someone is just disconcerned and comes in and says I need 2 algea eaters. The store employee more than likely is not going to say "how big is your tank, or do you know that this fish will get....".

today at petsmart the guy acctually asked what size tanks people had, but he still had no objection into selling a person with a 29 gallon tank two silver dollars. he also didnt tell them that they like to be in schools of six or more, which would OS the tank. there was also a guy that had his ammoina at 0.25 and they still sold him fish. from what i saw, he did have nitrates, but his tank wasnt fully cycled. his son got a 55 gallon tank for christmas, and was looking at fish too, but he didnt get any... some employees do care, but others are just there because they need $$$$.

petsmart also carries at least 10 fish species that grow to at least 12 inches long, and of course, the species of ID sharks that grows to be 9 feet. now thats a tank buster!

back on topic, your common pleco will get way to large for your tank regardles if it grows to be 24" or 36." your clown loaches will grow to big too. you should take them all back to the store.
