Do you think it is cruel how many fish are raised just for the purpose of being fed to another fish? Put yourself in the fishes position, being raised from a baby to be fed to a let's say a red tailed catfish with no escape.

Where do you think the fish meal in your flake food comes from?

wow, what a perplexing catch22.... I really can't vote on this, honestly.

shrimp, natural ingediants, FISH meal, ground brown rice, dried yeast, potato protein. its not got barely fish in it.

Isn't it basically the same for humans? That's exactly where your hamburger, leather goods, gelatin, etc. all come from.

I guess no matter how you look at it, it is awful, but it is a fact of life.

I have no problems with it. Same scenario as the chicken , pork and cattle that i eat are all bred to be consumed by us. As long as the animals were kept in sanitary optimal living conditions then its fine.

It is just the way of nature. It is just caring about your pet like you would a cat or a dog. You want to give it something it would enjoy and be nutritious. It is healthier to breed your own and take a chance and buy a feeder that corrupts your whole tank, not to mention the money. I think this issue has more to do with the knowledge of knowing they are gonna die. There are so many animals that are bred just for consumption, but these are ok because we only see the end product. If this is really too cruel, you might have to stop using and eating a lot of products. You would be a hypocryte if you didn't.This is just a way to help simulate a more natural enviroment for the fish, which I think most of us want to do.

Well said, If it wasn't for the humans enormous brain, we'd be getting eaten by other species left and right. The human brain it our only Advantage from other species

I would have to say that the answer to that question for me is "it depends." I think it is fine when people feed fish to other larger predatory fish as long as the feeder fish is killed within a reasonable period of time. I don't agree with a fish being chased around a tank for thirty minutes slowly being taken apart bit by bit.

As for fish meal being in fish food, I see absolutely no problem with this. Fish eat other fish in nature, that's the way it is.
