I pulled the fallowing info from http://www.barrreport.com/estimative...chy-folks.html
but I dont see any recomendation for Potassium Sulfate - K2SO4? Any body know whats up or am I missing it with my NEWBNESS?
Thanks, Arkangel77

100 - 125 Gallon Aquarium

Potassium Sulfate - K2SO4

Potassium Nitrate - KNO3
+/- 1 1/2 tsp KN03 3x a week

Mono Potassium Phosphate - KH2PO4
+/- ½ tsp KH2P04 3x a week

CSM+B Plantex - a micro nutrient trace mix, with boron added.
+/- ½ tsp (30ml) Trace 3x a week

What happens if you have to much "K"? I guess maybe I did not need to order it then? Who Knows

the k2so4 would be dosed if you show signs of potassium deficiency. at that point it would be dosed at the same rate (volume) as kh2po4.

i typically don't dose nitrates with my setups. i also typically don't dose k2so4. if my nitrates drop too low or i do extra water changes i'll dose kno3 to bump my nitrates up around 10ppm. if i get pinholes in my leaves i'll dose k2so4.

it can be handy to keep around imo but not usually a necessity.

you can just dose it and not worry if you'd like. typically there shouldn't be a problem if you do.

your link didn't show up for me but i'm pretty sure that's gregg watson's write up by the address. there's a version of that in the sticky about algae and dosing in the planted section here. that has the recommendations for k2so4 in it. basically the same write up though so it shouldn't be anything new to learn.

yup, link works now. it's exactly what i thought it was... for less techy folks. lol

you're welcome!

if you're going full doses from ei to start with don't skip your w/c's so you don't get excess build up.

i started with about half recommended and adjusted from there. it's a pain and takes a bit to nail down but less wasteful and you can do more reasonable water changes. keep in mind i'm working with pretty low lighting too so my uptake is considerably lower.

use the level recommendations to keep you in the "target area" and testing for a bit till you get your own routine down. if you veer from your routine test and level things out.

i'd say my dosing now resembles more like a pps pro routine. ei gave me the basis to start with since i could find "target levels" to work with and test.

almost forgot... riiz... in the sticky... he has a write up on a diy root tab recipe. in my opinion it's better than store bought root tabs (seachem or api). and it costs a whole lot less over time. they're a pain to make but it's not often and definitely made a difference for me.

I does Potassium Sulfate, due to my tap containing 5-10 ppm nitrates. I dose a third of the recommended Nitrate under the EI plan to stay at 10ppm throughout the week, but need the additional K.

Also with the DIY root tabs one batch will last a couple of years. The recipe in the sticky will make about 150+ balls equal to the size of Seachem's root tabs and provide much more nutrients including macros, except phosphate.
