Can you guys give me some opinions on these two? I need something with 3rd row seating (since I kinda have a mini tribe here). I like the Ford Expedition also, but have been told by several to stay away from them. These are the two I have been told to look at the most. So, I would like to know from my AC fam...which of these would be better...the good and the bad of them both.

Thanks in advance!!!

Do a search for reviews on each vehicle, I'm sure you will find good and bad for any vehicle you review. You just have to use your own judgement. I know people with expeditions that they have had for many years with little problems. I drive a MAZDA 6 :)

Honda Pilot out of the question? If I were shopping for SUVs right now, I'd definitely look into these.

What years of them are you looking at? I have had a Durango and a Suburban (pretty much the same as the Tahoe). I MUCH preferred the Suburban. It was easier for the kids to use, roomier, better to drive, etc. Right now I have the Ford Flex which I ADORE.

We've always had Fords at my house. I have the New Explorer and I love it. The only thing that I don't like is that the sync system needs an upgrade, it is very laggy sometimes. The best part is it doesn't look like a "traditional" suv. It has a 3rd row of seating, handles amazingly on the snow, and has great safety features :)

Yes, Mark I have been looking at reviews and things...just would like some personal opinions from others that may of had experiences with them. (I do realize that is what a "review" is) but I am more comfortable with the folks here...I'm just paranoid I spose, of the review places that maybe they have deleted some of the bad posts or something.

I didn't know of these, looked them up and I REALLY like them...but the ones it pulled up from my area for sale, just a bit to much for me at this time, there was one that fit in my range, but then that made me wonder why itwas so much cheaper.
Thank you for the suggestion.

I will have to go with a older one, from what I have seen for sale it is looking like 99-03 or so. The room is pretty important , I need room for 4 kids, groceries, a child's friend, going to the beach stuff or whatever else besides the kids I need to fit. The suburban is something else I was looking into.

Durango is the proper spelling.

Look at the Kia Sorento. It seats 7.

Do you care about gas mileage? that is the biggest question.
LOL, yes I realize I spelled it wrong but once the title was there, it's to late;)
I will look those up too...THANKS
See here is where I'm going to run into trouble...yes gas mileage is important, and I know any SUV will be bad for this.

I do like the explorer also, but they seem so much smaller. Along with the GMC envoy.

For value, and holding value, suburban hands down. Mine didn't do too bad on mileage for its size. It was awesome for taking long trips and the storage is unparalleled. I hated my dodge durango. It didn't have nearly enough cargo space and the year I had (I think it was a 2000) the seats were really difficult for the kids to use. It also had the worst mileage of all the suv's I have had. I did have the sport model, which also required premium gas which got a bit spendy when it got such low mileage.

I really adored my suburban (2004) and would have gladly gotten another but was trying to downsize a bit (hence the flex) while retaining teh 3 rows and minimum of 7 seating.

We have a Volvo XC90 with a 3rd row seat. It's a nice car but they're still pricey when bought used so I don't know what your budget is.

My parents bought a 2000 Ford Expedition new and they never had any issues with it at all.
