it might not dark soul, it could just be rated for 600 pounds, or the glass might break first. your tank is designed to be supported evenly around the edges, this is why it has the plastic rim to begin with. by resting the whole weight on the glass, you are circumventing the plastic from doing it's job. it's probably not the end of the world, but it's not ideal.
