Does anyone feed chayote?

Oh with the avacado and African Birds is a bit off. Avacado is toxic to all parrots regardless if there from Africa, Australia, South America, ect... Also Dogs are not affected by chocolate as badly as birds are with Avacado. Small amount of chocolate will not harm a dog and by small I mean a teaspoon or two with say a dog the size of a beagle. Another comparison would be dogs with Raisins or Avacado which is also toxic to dogs.

Hmmm onions are toxic to cats??? Wow that's good to know he he he. LOL. Never studied toxins which are harmful to cats but not humans. I don't like cats.

well i wasn't sure about all parrots and avocado but i knew for a fact that African parrots (should have said parrots in the first comment lol.) couldn't have it had to do research for a friend. but the cats and onions not so much toxic as indigestible their stomachs cant handle it, I don't know if it has anything to do with the high sulfur content.

Garlic is also toxic to cats, it gives them anemia.

I don't think the fish will like it, but I'm sure it can't hurt them! You'll probably get the same reaction as when you feed parsnip or turnip....not impressed.

If you're looking for something new to try and feed them, why don't you try the various greens that are in season - turnip, mustard, collard, etc. These are plentiful now in my area, I see people selling them for $2 for a huge bunch!

Pumpkin is one of the winter favorites of my fish, but I have to take it out within 24 hours or the water will be a starchy mess, similar to sweet potato.

I usually try to switch to whatever is available seasonally - winter squash is more trouble to prepare but very plentiful. I have a Hubbard squash I've got to make for dinner, come to think of it!
