There is a difference between the normal handful of bad reviews that even the best products get, and there being a noticeable amount of bad reviews. The Cascade has a noticeable amount of bad reviews compared to the others. No reason not to always buy the best available and the best you can afford. Eheims and Renas are just as readily (if not more) available as Cascades, and the difference in cost is only a few dollars. In that respect it seems like the Cascade is just a waste of money.

My Cascade 1000 was $69 new after shopping around. What comparable Eheim or Rena is there at this price? I haven't found one.

When I was looking into this canister I didn't notice an abnormally high number of bad reviews but we may have been looking in different places.

Q

Cascade has a bad name because it has a lower price tag. People think that just because it is cheaper that it must be a bad product. There are expensive cars and there are cheaper cars, doesn't mean that the cheaper cars are automatically inferior products.

Rena all the way. I can't say enough at how pleased I am with them. If it were me I would save my $$$ for a few more weeks and get the Rena.

What size tank are we talking and stock list?

i got the 2 HOB350s.
the tank size and stock list is:
55 gallon, and one now 4.5" oscar
i wouldve waited to get a canister, but i wanted to move the O out of the 20 ASAP.
im good with the maintenance.
and jeeez i would love to have a Rena on the 55, but nah cant happen right now.

when he upgrades or right before he upgrades, im going to add a canister. maybe 2 when he gets the bigger tank.
and thats something i like about the canisters, theyre not so visible and from what i hear.. a lot quieter. im just paranoid about it breaking or something, but ill worry about that when i actually get one.
