Does anyone know anything about animal skulls?

I guess I missed the last pix with it on the cuecard....wow that is small, yeah, maybe some kind of rodent.....

Well thx y'all for narrowing it down for me. :p:

If it helps at all I found it in an open area between the woods and the park, not in the woods themselves; there are some neighborhoods nearby, and the hairs are coarse w/ black, white and brown sections. There's also a pretty good size creek. I think it's too elongated to be a cat but what do I know about skulls?

Anyway I thought it was interesting. I'll take some measurements when I get it out of the bleach because... um yeah... I'm putting it in my tank. :uhoh:

probably not a dog, no saggital crest, and it's too short (it looks like it goes as far as the nose bones go). therefore probably not a related species either. Though I suppose it could be something like one of those flatfaced dogs, I don't know enough about their skulls to say.

not likely to be a rodent, too big, and they generally have complete bony orbits. That skull only has part of the zygomatic arch, which is more characteristic of carnivores. I think part of it's missing though, probably with the part that had the teeth in it.

maybe a cat, haven't looked at enough cat skulls to say. about the right size though, for a small cat.

Skulls Unlimited has an extensive animal skull selection (under "veterinary"). you might browse that. At the bottom it's got links to all the nondomestic critters.

looks too long to be a cat..... perhaps a possum or raccoon.

from what i gather theres a very large piece of the skull missing. someone correct me if im wrong but those lines on teh skull are the different parts of the skull so the line in the front would say that what you have is just ht every top of the head with some forhead. gonna be hard to tell what it is with out eyes and jaw :)
