A little quote from their website -

The Next Generation in Aquarium Filtration TM
Save Time and Money, Eliminate Nitrates, Control Algae, and Reduce Maintenance all at once!
An Aquaripure Nitrate Filter will greatly reduce the need for water changes in your fish tanks, saving you time, money, and reducing the stress on your aquarium fish.
What is an Aquaripure Filter?
The Aquaripure filter is a comprehensive biological filter which will completely remove all organic matter and nitrates in an Aquarium. This type of filter is also known as a denitrator, denitrifier, biodenitrator, anaerobic biological filter, or simply a nitrate filter. Other biological filters only convert organic matter into nitrates which then accumulate in the aquarium, physical filters only remove larger particulate matter, and skimmers do not remove any nitrates. The Aquaripure uses beneficial bacteria to break down invisible organic matter and nitrates completely into Nitrogen gas which then escapes into the atmosphere. This same process is even used by some water treatment plants to make wastewater safe for human consumption and to clean polluted water. The Aquaripure does this in an extremely safe and controlled environment and after the water from the Aquaripure is aerated there is nothing left but pure, clean, crystal clear water. Don't just take our word for it, read some of our customers actual testimonials.

They say you can do WC every 3 months. Does anyone have one of these? Know anyone that does? Any thoughts?

From their website: " With Aquaripure nitrate filters you could only do water change about once every 3 months..."

It says "you could"... maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it sounds too good to be true, and I have heard a theory about that.

That being said... I'd love to hear from someone who has used one for a while.

I have not used the product. But this is my opinion on the subject.

I'd have several misgivings about the product. In my mind nitrates are an indicator of over all "pollution". While the product may remove nitrates, it doesn't make any claims of removing other biological compounds that may accumulate in a fish tank. If ones only goal is to remove nitrates and phosphates floating plants would be an appropriate avenue for many. The product also does not in any way (based on the ad) deal with natural components that could become depleted in your tank. I think the most obvious example of this would be carbonate that is consumed by nitrifying bacteria. Carbonate depletion and the fluctuating pH and associated problems with fish health is a pretty well documented result of "Old tank Syndrome". I believe the standard hobbyists kits for pH, nitrate etc are really only skimming the surface of the water quality issue. The way around this is a regular water change schedule. I showed mathematically (in the other thread) how regular water changes will keep levels within defined parameters. This doesn't necessarily mean every tank has to have a 50% water change every week but the smaller and less frequent changes are going to increase the amount of variation. As far as the fish stress issue, I believe this is a strong indicator that not enough water changes are being performed. Those who perform larger, more frequent water changes generally do not report signs of fish stress. I would suggest this is due to their water parameters varying to a smaller degree. Anyway I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop here.

The site claims to remove other organic compounds but it stops there. 99% of the discussion is solely about nitrates. They also recommend adding buffers back but it just seems so worthless unless you're just trying to be lazy...IMHO.

i am far more convinced about those shower heads that "make you healthier". imo these ideas are both a little um, well... :fairy: :y220d:
