Hey all, I was just checking my aquariums ammonia level, and I'm having alittle trouble getting the right color. So I was wondering does bottled sprint nestle water have ammonia in it? Cause what I did is pour some in another test tube, and it matches exactly with my my aquarium water.

Well hey, I just called Nestle Bottled Water, and it has 0 Ammonia, so theirs a tip for some people if it's hard for you to read the different colors on the ammonia chart with aquarium pharmaeuticals then you can just test some spring water from Nestle which is available in bottles at nearly every Wal-Mart, and compare that color with that of your aquarium test tube. Hah!

Bottled water is different to tap water in terms of "ingredients"
Such as, tap water has chlorine & fluoride that usually isn't in bottled water,

But some bottled water is high in aluminium and other chemicals.

I didn't do chemistry but some of the other metals and minerals may affect the test readings too. Unless your aquarium is filled with evian.

Well what's a better was to distinguish the colors on the Ammonia test from Aquarium Pharmaeuticals, the dang yellow, green, darker green all look the same to me lol

on my ap test kit yellow looks like pee after 8 coffees... really yellow.. and when theres an ammonia spike its clearly green.. prob no help but my 2 cents

The best way to read an API test kit is to lay the color card flat on a desk or takble. Then set the test tube on the first color (upright) and look straight down at it. (with the cap removed of course) This should make it easier to compare colors.
