Does Dwarf Sag Usually Melt?

hmm, i may have planted some of them too deep. not that deep, but I definitely pushed the roots down there. Didn't realize it was like anubias where you have to keep a certain portion above the substrate.

well I guess we'll just see what happens lol

As long as the root structure stays in tact (which melting should not affect) the plants will rebound under good conditions. Your tank looks fine so I would expect a recovery.

But slappy is correct, make sure they are not buried too deep in the substrate.

you using flourish excel?

Are you using excel? I cooked a huge carpet of vals with a shot of excel (trying to kill algae). The vals melted and dissolved overnight.

Vals have been known to be sensitive to excel at full dosage, but I've never ever heard of sag responding the same way. In my experience neither have been affected although I've only used the val/excel combination at minimal dosing. But so far I have been doing max dosages of excel as my DIY Co2 pooped out (long story) and my dwarf sags are doing well. Seeing new runners too.

Ramble over :)

nope no excel. pressurized CO2. although I was doing rather high doses of Seachem Clarity to get rid of the haziness the aquasoil was causing.

they're not buried that deep. I planted them in the same way that I plant the crypts (push down the roots till they aren't showing)

First few months? that makes me feel a little better. Slowly it seems like they're all losing their leaves (lose the green part, leaving behind just the thin translucent "backbone" of the leaf)

Some plants that were grown emerged will loose their leaves when first submerged due two the structural difference between the two growth forms. All of my new swords did this when I first put them in. Just remove the dead and dying leaves, the submerged forms usually grow back in a few weeks.
