Just wondering if there is an expiration date for Hakari frozen tubifex worms, brine shrimp, and blood worms. I couldn't find anything on the packages to suggest that they ever go bad.

The reason I ask is because I still have some tubifex and brine that I bought a long time ago that my fish didn't like, so I thought I'd give them to my dad for his new tank if they are still any good.

as long as they stay frozen below 0F, they should be pretty good for a long time.

I think blood worms do go bad - could be my freezer too - definately does not stay below 0F

Had to throw away a pack because it looked like the worms were black, not red - could have been the pack too - dont know.

I would excercise best judgement there.

I supose it could get freezer burnt like any thing else.....:)

There is definately a "shelf life" for frozen foods, whether human or pet. I would think that it would probably be wise not to buy any frozen fish food that you can't use up within about 6 months, to be safe. The other issue regarding frozen fish foods going bad is that there is no guarantee that the food was not partially or completely thawed in transit from the manufacturer to the store. Things can happen in transit. If there is any odor when you use any frozen food, I would immediately chuck it/return it.

i have some frozen food at a friends house that i has been there for about a year and 4 months now... i will go get it and see if its still good but i doubt it will be...

My puffers won't touch frozen bloodworms that have been in the freezer more than a couple of months (sealed in the Hikari packaging). I imagine they get freezer burned and the quality degrades over time. Less discriminating fish might not care though.
